Hi all, I'm the teacher librarian at Penrith Public School and, from next week, I will have some excited Stage 1 book rappers working with me in the library. We are looking forward to sharing lots of ideas and stories with you. Traditionally, each class in our school celebrates Book Week by designing a display (a mural, mobile or 3D structure) about a shortlisted title, or the Book Week theme - and these stay in the library until the next year. In recent times, groups of us have also designed storyboards and digital stories or joined in a book rap.

Welcome Penrith Public School rappers! We are all excited to hear about your Book Week adventures and view your displays in the Gallery. Are you planning to design a storyboard or digital story for Book week? The London Olympics could be an ideal springboard for Champions Read!

Hello everyone, we are the Runaway Squish Rabbits of Class 2B at Penrith PS. We love the shortlisted books, especially "Squish Rabbit" and "Grumpy little king" (Crichton Awards), "The runaway hug", "Flood", "No bears" and "Rudie nudie". We are looking forward to rapping with you. We are working on a mobile for the library using "Look, a book!" and our imaginations. Mr McLean will be helping us to create a digital story about "Champions read".

Hi again everyone, we have been working on creating a digital story about the Book Week slogan, "Champions read". We have spent 30 mins per day (for 2 weeks) watching stimulus material, such as "The hare and the tortoise" fable. Also brainstorming, character building, storyboarding, taking digital photos, caption writing, editing, and selecting music. We shall link our Photo Peach story from the Gallery. Students in 2B @ Penrith PS.

Hello everyone! We just watched the Runaway Squish Rabbits' wonderful digital story. We are Year 1 students of 1/2H at Penrith PS - and you might have seen our library display about "The last Viking" in the Gallery. This week we are going to create our own digital story about Thor and other superheroes. Goodbye for now, Thor's Lightning Rockstars @ Penrith PS

Hello Runaway Squish Rabbits and the Thor's Lightning Rockstars from Penrith, and a big hello to Mr McLean! Your exploration of the CBCA shortlisted books is inspiring. Using tools such as PhotoPeach to create your digital stories is very clever and lots of fun! I wonder if any famous authors started by using digital tools when they were at school…hmm, maybe one day we will see your stories in a bookshop!

Hello. We would like to share with you what we did for Book Week. We have a special day when we can dress up as book characters or a champion. We all walk in a big parade to show everyone our costumes. This year some costumes we saw were: Zac Power, Pirates, Ned Kelly, Rugby Players, Ninjas, swimmers, Where’s Wally and Indiana Jones. After our parade we visit different classrooms and do fun Book Week activities from the Book Week books. Some activities included: chalk drawing, paper boat making, puzzles and making characters. Some of our favourite books were: A bus called Heaven, Look, a book and Flood. We hope to write to you again. From The Bookworms.

Hello, this is the Super Learning Friends from Redeemer Lutheran College. We would like to tell you about Book Week at our school. On Book Day we go to different classrooms, read books and do different activities. We enjoyed doing activities like: chalk drawing, making animals, making posters and making daffodils. Our teachers get dressed up and we do too. We dressed up in costumes like: a soccer player, witch, a Star wars character, Cat in the hat and Rapunzel. We had lots of fun at the parade when we showed everyone our costumes. That’s all for you folks today. From the Super Learning Friends :)
