Module/Unit Purpose

  
When you have achieved this unit of competency you will have developed the knowledge and skills to safely prepare materials, select weld parameters, then perform advanced welding using manual metal arc welding, minimising and rectifying distortion and defects common to the welding process.
   
As a result, you will be able to apply these skills to produce butt and fillet welds which conform to AS/NZ 1554 SP, or equivalent weld quality, as required by various manufacturing and servicing industries.
