Research and analyse illustration in a specific context
Completion of this unit will provide the learner with the knowledge and skills required to interpret and develop contemporary illustration in context. This is achieved through examining illustration across various historical and thematic contexts and gaining an appreciation for the interrelationship between illustration and the context itself; and how the context influences the role, style, methods and conventions of illustration.
Specifically the learner should be able to:
Use formal and informal research techniques to explore a range of images/illustrations and their contexts.
Discuss the evolution of illustration throughout history and across cultures.
Critically analyse contemporary illustration and identify the impact of cultural, historical or thematic influences.
